Haha never judge a book by its collage....especially an unfinished one:-) Thanks so much though!! I'm having a lot of fun writing it. It's from two POVs, present-tense in a fantasy world and it's getting pretty long..... I had fun finding character lookalikes too!!
Well, it's a little bit like Middle-earth except there are only humans (so far :-D) and I'm trying to make it a bit more realistic......I'm not sure how to handle the magical aspects of fantasy yet and I'm trying to decide whether to include any or not:) It's fun writing it, there's evil kings and brave warriors and a reluctant princess and feasts and songs and books...
So sort of a Medieval-style fantasy realm? I love all the elements you listed as being present in your tale - well, of course in a perfect world there would never be such a thing as evil kings... but we're not in a perfect world, and they *are* mighty useful from a story-telling standpoint. Have to have something for the brave warriors to stand up against, right? :)
There are several types of "magic" in literature... after choosing (or inventing) the variation you want to utilize, I guess the difficult part would be conveying to the reader exactly what is meant by the word "magic" within the story you're writing... but then, perhaps the clear use of words/terms is one of the challenges of writing in general!
Yes, exactly! I love the medieval culture and it's perfect for a fantasy. Yep one thing I've learned about writing is that it should involve characters of all types and persuasions. We can learn so much about who we are as humans by analyzing ourselves and let's face it, there are evil rulers out there today! It's fascinating to explore what drives them and of course, you have to have evil for good to overcome:) There's a character in the story who is imprisoned by her own fear but she finds her courage. For example, Tolkien's world is full of magic as is Narnia, which I love. So I'm having a good think about it....:) Thanks so much for your comments and advice!!:-D
True! The character imprisoned by her own fear sounds interesting! Still more so if her fear is very much based in reality, which would be all the more challenging to overcome. Thou art assuredly most welcome! ;]
Based on these collages, I definitely want to read TLH! It's so beautiful, and very Tolkien-esque. :]

Hmm, too true... thanks for that reminder! ;)
DeleteOut of curiosity, in what style of fantasy world are you writing?

Yeah, she even reminds me of myself. Or how I used to be:-) It is completely based on reality, it's not irrational...
