The Costumes of Cranford~ Sophy Hutton

Isn't this picture cute?? Anyway, we now come to my favourite wardrobe in Cranford. Sophy Hutton works hard at home taking care of her family and her clothes are usually quite plain. However, when she does get out, she has some quite pretty outfits. Especially her wedding dress...but we'll get to that. In the picture above she wears a neutral beige-coloured gown with a lovely full skirt and puffed sleeves. She wears a delicate fichu caught in at the waist with a belt. Her bonnet is a yellow/brown colour with a puffed crown and a wide brim, tied loosely with a greenish ribbon.

I couldn't find a full-length picture of this one, but it is a pale blue print with a pointed lace edge collar and button front. It's quite a plain, juvenile style that she wears around home a lot. I love her hairstyle!

This hooded cape is a pale green silky material which has a tassell in the back but I couldn't find a picture of the back. I believe she is wearing a brown print dress under this.

This really is 'the loveliest bridal gown'! It is muslin, of course, with full sleeves and skirt. There are lace ruffles on the cuffs. Her bonnet is white with tulle ribbons. I sadly couldn't find any more outfits of hers, so there you go! See you next time!
